Thirty-four (34) finishers of Home Aide Care Attendance (Basic Caregiving) and twenty-six (26) finishers of Housekeeping graduated under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program of the Department of Education in partnership with the local government unit of Pagbilao, February 27, 2017 at the Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium. Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic served as guest speaker.
Both courses, funded by the local government, is part of its heightened skills training program for individuals desiring to finish a training course in pursuit of career and life advancement.
Serving as guest speaker, Mayor Palicpic drew the graduates into an inspiring yet challenging message. Quoting a famous adage by American public official Newton Baker, “The man who graduates today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after”, the good mayor said, “Sa inyong lahat na nagdesisyong mag-aral, pagdesisyunan n’yo rin sanang makapag-aral bukas, at pagdesisyunan n’yo rin sanang maibahagi ang inyong kaalamang nalaman para sa kagalingang pansarili, kagalingang pampamilya, at kagalingang pangkomunidad.”
Graduates were also recognized for successfully attaining a hundred-percent passing average in the National Certification (NC) II in both courses. Basic Caregiving finishers took their assessment at Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI) in Lucena City, while Housekeeping finishers had their assessment at Computer Systems Technological College, Inc. (CSTC) in Sariaya.
DepEd’s Alternative Learning System is one of the banner programs of the LGU in the sector of education, having produced skilled and knowledgeable individuals who are now working in other parts of the country and the world.
