Forty-seven (47) senior citizens in Pagbilao gladly received either medical assistance or burial assistance from the Local Government Unit through Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic, July 18, 2017 at the Conference Room of the Municipal Administrator’s Office.
The distribution of medical and burial assistances is a program regularly implemented by the municipal government under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA).
In her message, Mayor Palicpic shared news to the beneficiaries. She said that last week, the national office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already given P100,000 to five (5) centenarians in Pagbilao (two of which had already passed away) as directed by Republic Act 10868 or “Centenarians Act of 2016″.
The honorable mayor also said that registered senior citizens are set to receive assistance from the regional office of DSWD amounting to P1,500. The DSWD Region IV-A is giving assistance to senior citizens in the amount of P500 per month, given on a quarterly basis. This assistance is still on process.
In addition, Mayor Palicpic said that aside from the cash grant given by the national government through DSWD, the LGU is also giving P50,000 to Pagbilao centenarians under the Municipal Ordinance No. 2, Series of 2016 or “An Ordinance Granting the Centenary Award and Plaque of Appreciation to Qualified Senior Citizen in the Municipality of Pagbilao”.
