Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from the 27 barangays of Pagbilao underwent the Lactation Massage Training on July 20, 2017 at Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium.
The training, handled by the medical staff of the Municipal Health Center with a representative from the Quezon Provincial Health Office, aims to impart a vital skill to BHWs which will greatly help mothers and their babies. In the Lactation Massage Training, nurses and midwives gave lectures on the specific breast massage that helps in the faster and easier production of milk.
Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic, in her message to BHWs, emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to newborns and babies. She said that aside from a healthy and active body, a child who was breastfed by his/her mother also grows with bright mind and strong defense against illnesses. The honorable mayor, who is a mother herself, added that breastfeeding strengthens the bond between mothers and babies.
The Lactation Massage Training was held as part of the new program of the local government unit of Pagbilao, the “P1K” or Pagbilao’s First 1000 Days of Life Program which is a localized program of the Q1K (Quezon’s First 1000 Days of Life) of the Quezon Provincial Government.
