The Calabarzon Regional Office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Pagbilao Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office conducted the Orientation on Climate Change Adaptation and Management attended by barangay officials, municipal officials, and the LGU’s climate change team, June 16, 2017 at the Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium.
A Cash for Work project funded by Climate Change Commission, the Climate Change Adaptation and Management is designed to help reduce the effects of changing weather to the environment and the human society. It will be manned by the climate change team organized by the municipal government of Pagbilao composing of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, Social Protection Program members, and farmers.
Under the program, which will run for ten (10) days, members of the climate change team are set to clean up coastal areas and plant trees. Members are residents of one of the eleven (11) chosen barangays in Pagbilao, mostly are coastal barangays: Mapagong, Pinagbayanan, Bantigue, Ilayang Polo, Silangang Malicboy, Kanlurang Malicboy, Ibabang Palsabangon, Binahaan, Bagumbungan, Bigo and Antipolo.
Gracing the orientation were Sangguniang Bayan Chairman on Social Services, Coun. Jeffrey Tiñana; Sangguniang Bayan Chairman on Environment, Coun. Celedonio Dapla; Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, Delfin Magana, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Ronelo Rustia; and General Services Officer, Joselito Merjudio.
The 10-day program will start next week.
