Gender and Development (GAD)-related programs and projects of the local government unit of Pagbilao, under the leadership of Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic, was evaluated by the Provincial Gender and Development Council, February 8, 2017 at the Office of the Municipal Administrator’s Conference Room.
Attended by department heads of local and national government agencies, staff from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), representative from the PWD Association, representative from a non-government organization (NGO), and representative from the academe, the presentation was presided by Pagbilao Municipal Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).
The honorable mayor kicked off the presentation by citing the awards and recognitions received by LGU Pagbilao during 2016 under her supervision. She then went on with the Pagbilao history; population; number of women leaders serving the municipality; number of women entrepreneurs (where the percentage of women is higher with 51% as compared to men with 49%); ordinances and executive orders on women and children protection, as well as gender sensitivity; regular GAD-related activities and programs; and public facilities where these activities are held.
Mayor Palicpic also disclosed the 2016 GAD total budget amounting to 10.3 million pesos, only 61% of which was utilized due to the election ban and other issues on document processing.
PGAD Council head, Ofelia Palayan, congratulated Mayor Palicpic and the LGU for an informative and comprehensive presentation. Following right after are the interview conducted by the group of evaluators with LGU’s key persons and the visitation of GAD facilities.
