Barangay captains, representatives from non-government organizations, and staff from national and local government agencies gathered before Pagbilao Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic for the Municipal Development Council (MDC) meeting, held February 8, 2017 at the PKB Building.
Mayor Palicpic started out by sharing the annual budget of the municipal government for 2017 which amounts to around one hundred seventy million pesos (P170,000,000). She also cited the excess money from previous completed projects which were officially closed through MDC Resolutions 1 and 2, Series of 2017.
The Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan of the municipality for 2017-2019 was then discussed. Included in the POPS Plan are the current situation of the LGU in terms of public safety and order, crisis management system and strategies, funding requirements, etc.
In connection with the POPS Plan, the honorable mayor imparted the three (3) main goals of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s administration as discussed during his recent meeting with Municipal and City Mayors from across the country: (1) to lower the number of drug addicts in the country, (2) to reduce criminality rate all throughout the country, and (3) to clean-up the country (unspecific as to what should be cleaned). Duterte’s administration, additionally, is conducting internal cleansing starting from national government officials and personnel, down to local officials and personnel, including barangay captains.
Being the MDC Resolution No. 3, Series of 2017, the 2017-2019 POPS Plan was approved by the general council. Before closing it down, Barangay Captains of Mapagong, Ila. Polo, Alupaye and Del Carmen asked to include disaster preparedness-related projects for their respective barangay.
MDC Resolution No. 4, Series of 2017, approving the Supplemental Annual Investment Plan (AIP) of the LGU for 2017, was also approved during the meeting.
