The municipal government of Pagbilao on Monday, September 11, 2017 warned its people not to believe rumors alleging that it provides funds, through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), to those who wish to start a business.
It came to the knowledge of the local government unit (LGU) that there are individuals who introduce themselves as employees of the DTI, hold “consultations” and collect an amount of P300.00 as “consultation fee”.
On the same day, the LGU has already issued a public service announcement on its official Facebook page against the rumor. It also posted similar warning in selected barangays.
In relation to the issue, the DTI-Quezon has also issued their official statement. In a letter signed and sent to the LGU by DTI-Quezon OIC-Provincial Director, Julieta Tadiosa, the department denied the rumor.
The letter stated that the DTI does not authorize any of its personnel to collect any amount for consultation services, and that its only financing assistance program is for existing businesses only through the Small Business Corporation directly handled by its account officer at the Negosyo Center based in DTI-Quezon Provincial Office in Lucena City.
