Thirty-one (31) entries for the first Parol-Making Contest of the Local Government Unit of Pagbilao were judged December 21, 2017 at the Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium.
The hand-made lanterns or “parol” created by Pagbilao citizens were displayed at the Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium prior to the judging.
Parol No. 3 of Ayaay Family, represented by Marissa Jamilano-Ayaay of Brgy. Sta. Catalina, won the first place. Aside from plaque, Ayaay Family will also receive a cash prize worth P20,000.
Parol No. 31, entry of Brgy. Ibabang Bagumbungan, notched the second place and a cash prize of P15,000.
Parol No. 30, created by AKTIB Youth Organization of Brgy. Iba. Bagumbungan, bagged the third place and P10,000 cash prize.
Parol No. 6 of Harley Dars Manay was declared Best Recycled Parol, while Parol No. 28 of the Grade 7 students of Pagbilao National High School was recognized as Biggest Parol. Both will receive a cash prize of P5,000.
Ten (10) lanterns were selected for the consolation prize of P3,000 each. These are parols 11, 19, 6, 4, 29, 26, 7, 1, 22, and 18.
The recycled parols were judged based on the following criteria: Originality and Uniqueness (20%), Artistry and Craftsmanship (30%), Use of Recycled Materials (40%), and Over-all Appeal and Visual Impact (10%).
Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic graced the judging of Parol-Making Contest 2017. RJ Saliendra of the Provincial Tourism Office, Evangeline Antaran of Queen Margarette Hotel, Bryan Porta of My Quezon CatV, Anthony Panesa of the Bureau of Fire Protection, and Agnes Pornobi of the Municipal Engineering Office served as judges.
The Parol-Making Contest 2017 was made possible through the supervision of Mayor Palicpic and the Municipal Tourism Office.
