The local government unit of Pagbilao headed by Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic, through the Municipal Physical Fitness and Sports Development Council under the guidance of Municipal Administrator Ian Palicpic launched its very first Sports Development Program for the Students, March 23, 2018 at the Municipal Covered Court.
The Sports Development Program (SDP) for the students aims to develop the skills and values of the young and promising athletes of the municipality that would prepare them to reach for their full-potential on the sport that they choose to excel at. It is also a way of promoting personal, social and community development of these young members of the community.
The said program was participated by 121 elementary pupils and 113 secondary students who are enrolled in different public and private schools and are sports enthusiast.
Under the SDP for students, training and coaching session are offered by coaches and trainers from the Sports Development Office of LGU Tayabas for the following sports such as KARATEDO, ARNIS, TAEKWONDO, WUSHU, TABLE TENNIS, CHESS, and BADMINTON must be attended by the participants.
During the launching, District 1 Supervisor, Aurea Gandia was represented by Beth De Castro, principal of Pagbilao Central Elementary School, Rosario Almodiel District 2 Supervisor and other principals from different schools in the locality were also present to attend the said activity.
In Mayor Palicpic’s message, she believes that every Pagbilawin can keep up with the athletes from different cities and municipalities as long as they are armed with proper trainings and maintain discipline as this builds their character and help them set their mind to achieve great things.
This particular trait also teaches the value of hard work and sacrifice which are considered essential to every sportsperson as these entail perseverance, determination and motivation for them to be successful in their chosen sport. Also, they learn to put importance in sacrifice.
Mayor Palicpic, in addition said that the municipal government is continuously doing its best to promote various sports activities that involve the youth sector as this is one of the advocacies of the Serbisyong Palicpic Click and Very Quick to stimulate and encourage them to be part of something that is beneficial and worthy of their time.
Furthermore, Municipal Administrator Ian Palicpic stated that the MPFSDC will be organizing a 3-day sports fest wherein cash prizes will be waiting for those who will win their respective sports event. It will be participated by athletes from different schools and localities, so he reminded the participants of the said program to do their best and attend to their schedule of trainings so that they will be selected to compete for the aforementioned competition.
Engr. Palicpic also mentioned that financial incentive is being given by the municipal government to Pagbilawins who will compete in Palarong Pambansa; for gold medalist P10,000.00, for silver medalist 7,000.00 and 5,000.00 for bronze medalist while 3,000.00 is also given if they would be qualified to compete for the said national games. #PagbilaoWINS #SerbisyongPalicpic
