Five hundred thirty (530) active Heart Club members gathered at the Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium for the Club’s 2nd anniversary, February 6, 2018. Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic graced the celebration, alongside Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Nathaniel Merene and Coun. Celedonio Dapla.
Since its launching in February 2016, the Municipal Government’s Heart Club program continues to provide medical care to Pagbilaowins suffering from heart-related ailments. Handled by the Municipal Health Office, the Heart Club program offers free regular monthly check-up, laboratory services and medicines.
In her message, Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic introduced the newly-installed assistant municipal health officer in the person of Dr. Francis Gerard Daya. She also encouraged the members to avail of the laboratory services provided by the Municipal Health Center.
Mayor Palicpic, in addition, went on to discuss the current concern on dengue vaccine or dengvaxia, and Heart Club’s counterpart program for patients with diabetes called Sweet Club.
Part of the celebration is the distribution of medicines among Heart Club members. Medications given include simyastatin 40mg tablet, metoprolol 50mg tablet, enalapril 40mg tablet, nifedidine 10mg and 5mg caplet, methyldopa, losartan 50mg tablet, amlodipine 10mg tablet and multivitamins capsule.
Heart Club is composed of senior citizens and middle-aged individuals. Rizalina Catalla presently serves as the club president.
