Four (4) notable Pagbilaoins who have brought honor and pride to the Municipality by excelling in their respective field and exemplifying the characters and values of true-blooded Pagbilao citizens were granted the prestigious title as “Natatanging Anak ng Pagbilao 2017” in the Awarding Ceremony, August 29, 2017 at the Sentrong Pangkabuhayan Auditorium.
The Natatanging Anak ng Pagbilao 2017 Awarding Ceremony is one of the activities in line with the joint celebration of 287th Araw ng Pagbilao and 332nd Araw ng Parokya.
Dr. Teodoro M. Gatchalian, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and an ‘adopted son’ of Pagbilao, was the guest speaker.
This year, four awardees emerged in the person of Tyronne Exequiel Ponciano Flores, Chris John Jaloren Cañarez, Limuel Hayag Vilela and Virgilio “Direk Gil” Merluza Portes.
TYRONNE EXEQUIEL PONCIANO FLORES
Nominated by Mr. Meriel M. Merjudio, Sports Coach
The 18-year-old athlete from Barangay Ikirin set records in a number of Shot Put events, such as the Calabarzon Regional Sports Competition 2017 where he was hailed as Best Thrower. A National University student, Flores is also a three-time Palarong Pambansa Gold Medalist, having notched, for three consecutive years (2015, 2016 and 2017), the highly-coveted medal in the country’s most-competitive sports competition.
CHRIS JOHN JALOREN CAÑAREZ
