Public elementary and secondary schools in the Municipality of Pagbilao participated in the Department of Education (DepEd)-directed Brigada Eskwela 2017. On May 18, 2017, Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic visited Talipan Elementary School which is set to compete for the 2017 Regional Best Brigada Eskwela Implementing Schools.
Themed “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan”, the Brigada Eskwela officially kicked-off on May 15 and will run until May 20. It is the “National Schools’ Maintenance Week” geared towards bringing together “all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort and resources to prepare public school facilities ready for the opening of the School Year in June.”
In Pagbilao, one of the aims of implementing Brigada Eskwela is to determine the number of enrollees in each school. For instance, Talipan ES, headed by Principal Mildred De Romas, is expecting around one-thousand five-hundred (1,500) new students in June.
Talipan ES, so as to be among the Best Brigada Eskwela Implementing Schools in the Division of Quezon for 2017, shall meet the following criteria set by the DepEd: Scope of Work (35%), Diverse Volunteer Participation (25%), Generated Resources (15%), Alignment to Brigada Eskwela Theme (5%), Creativity and Innovation (10%), and Increment of Resources and Volunteers (10%).
Meanwhile, the Pagbilao LGU, through the initiative of Mayor Palicpic, is eyeing for the construction of a two (2)-storey building with eight (8) classrooms in Talipan ES. The Barangay Resolution No. 17 of 2016, declaring that the land (where the said building is set to rise) will be donated to Talipan ES, has already been passed and approved on November 19, 2016. The LGU is only waiting for the Deed of Donation from Brgy. Talipan and the titling of land under the name of Talipan ES in order for the construction of the new school building to be fulfilled.
