Government-run schools in the Municipality of Pagbilao welcomed School Year 2017-2018, June 5, 2017. Accordingly, Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic, alongside department heads, visited Pagbilao East Elementary School (PEES) to join the students, teachers and parents in the flag raising ceremony; and to catch on the projects the said school needs.
As the new school year began, the Local Government Unit of Pagbilao under the guidance of Mayor Palicpic also geared up for inevitable concerns such as heavy traffic and dense crowd where pickpockets thrive. Consequently, the LGU sent off men of the Pagbilao Municipal Police Station (PMPS) to help control the passing of vehicles in major highways and regulate traffic flow.
After the flag raising ceremony, Mayor Palicpic, alongside Municipal Engineer Angelito Ayala, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Delfin Magana, Pagbilao Fire Station (PFS) Chief Fernando Castillo, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Emerita Madla, Public Schools District Supervisor Aurea Gandia, PFS staff and PMPS staff made rounds to determine the projects PEES needs.
In her message, Mayor Palicpic reminded the school administrators on the Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 13, Series of 2017, issued March 14, 2017, that bans junk foods and softdrinks inside every school. The honorable mayor also said that her office will endorse the said Order to the Sangguniang Bayan who will then decide on the issuance of an ordinance that would ban the same outside the schools.
Aside from embracing the school year 2017-2018, PEES also welcomed its new principal in the person of Lina O. Flores, formerly serving the Municipality of San Antonio. PEES, located in the poblacion area, is one of the largest schools in Pagbilao, with more or less twelve thousand (12,000) students as of 2017.
