Another Serbisyong Palicpic scholar has unlocked an achievement. Paula Bianca A. Limbo, a scholar of the Local Government Unit of Pagbilao under the Municipal Education Assistance Program (MEAP), also known as Serbisyong Palicpic Scholarship Program, successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) given September 24, 2017.
Paula finished her Bachelor in Elementary Education major in General Education degree from Southern Luzon State University in Lucban, Quezon on June 2017 with a high general weighted average of 1.80.
Raised in a simple family by her loving parents, Renato and Benilda (a vendor and a housewife, respectively), Paula has always visualized herself as a teacher who helps shape minds and instills moral values to the youth.
However, Paula’s journey towards earning her university degree and ultimately passing the LET was never easy. She recalled that there were many times when she would need to sell masapan, mani and santan, which his father repacked and sold, at school to earn money.
Financially-challenged but determined to achieve her dream, then-college freshman Paula applied and fortunately qualified for the scholarship program offered by the Municipal Government led by Mayor Palicpic, who authored the scholarship ordinance as a municipal councilor.
Paula said that being a Serbisyong Palicpic scholar helped her and her family greatly, specifically in financing several of her school needs.
Serbisyong Palicpic scholars in the college level receive P5,000 every semester. Scholars in the senior high school and junior high school levels receive P2,500 and P4,000 every year, respectively.
The scholarship program implementation is in accordance with Municipal Ordinance No. 1, Series of 2012 or An Ordinance Establishing the Municipal College Education Assistance Program in the Municipality of Pagbilao authored by then-Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Education and Culture chair Shierre Ann P. Palicpic.
