65 couples tie knots in LGU-sponsored Civil Mass Wedding

Sixty-five (65) couples tied knots in the free Civil Mass Wedding sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Pagbilao through the Office of the Municipal Civil Registrar, November 9, 2018 at the Pagbilao Municipal Covered Court.
Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic solemnized the union of 65 pairs of hearts. In addition to the civil wedding itself, the wedding ring, toasting glass, cake, brides’ bouquet and veil are free.
Ricardo Amparo and Editha Cantara, residents of Brgy. Alupaye, with three (3) children are the couple with most number of years together, living under the same roof for 27 years. Mayor Palicpic congratulated the couple for having the longest relationship among the 65 pairs, and said that they are an inspiration to every husband and wife.
The free civil mass wedding is an annual activity of the municipal government that aims to help couples become lawful husbands and wives, and decrease the number of illegitimate children.
The Pagbilao Local Civil Registrar (LCR), in accordance with the mandate of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and other pertinent Philippine laws, directs couples age 18 to 24 years old to acquire marriage license first in order to get married. They also need to submit their individual birth certificate, or any of the following: baptismal certificate, voter’s registration, medical record and birth certificate of their child/ren. Also, they have to submit the certificate of residency given by their barangay captain if both of them were not born in Pagbilao. Attending Family Planning Seminar and Marriage Counseling is also necessary.
Meanwhile, couples age 25 years old and up, given that they are living together under one roof for at least five (5) years, do not have to acquire marriage license to qualify for the free civil wedding, as directed by Article 34 of the Family Code. They only need to submit to the LCR their individual birth certificate, or any of the following: baptismal certificate, voter’s registration, medical record and birth certificate of their child/ren. Another documentary requirement to be passed is the certification from their barangay captain affirming that they are living together for five years or more. #PagbilaoWINS #SerbisyongPalicpic
