Because of the tragic incident that happened last year from Typhoon Glenda, the local government unit of Pagbilao headed by Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic strengthened the capability of the community people to survive calamities and disasters through conduct of Disaster Preparedness Seminars.
Started on June 16 at Brgy. Binahaan, the team composed of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) joined together to deliver valuable information to families who are exposed to disasters. The families were taught and encouraged to do a Disaster Preparedness Plan so that in times of impending danger, they are ready.
The second barangay visited by the team was Brgy. Pinagbayanan on June 18.
The first barangays visited were identified as two among the disaster-prone areas in Pagbilao, which are vulnerable to typhoons and storm surges.
Aside from Binahaan and Pinagbayanan, the team, using the LGU’s new Pagbilao Rescue Vehicle, will visit barangays scheduled until July.
The information dissemination about disasters conducted in the municipality is one of the priority programs on Safety of Mayor Palicpic.
