Programs on Gender and Development (GAD) of the Local Government of Pagbilao went through an evaluation, June 13, 2018.
A vital part of the Search for the Most Outstanding City/Municipal GAD Focal Point System in Quezon Province, the evaluation was carried out by the members of the Provincial GAD Committee. During the assessment, Municipal Mayor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic shared the programs and projects under the municipality’s GAD system.
GAD Programs of the LGU Pagbilao Mayor Palicpic highlighted the sustainable projects and programs of the Municipal Government that promote consciousness on Gender and Development such as, Mass Wedding Program; Legitimation; Search for Barangay GAD Focal Point System, Establishment of Social Hygiene Clinic; Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Livelihood Training, and Pagbilaowin Una Ka (P1K) among others.
The honorable mayor also puts emphasis on the program on Special Education (SPED), wherein she plans on putting up a therapy room in Pagbilao Central Elementary School that will serve as a venue where children or individuals with special needs can freely express themselves, the implementation of Kasambahay Law as mandated by the national agency, and the Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE) various projects headed by Municipal Administrator Ian Palicpic.
GAD-related Award Received by the LGU Pagbilao
In 2017, the Local Government of Pagbilao was awarded the most prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance which is considered as the highest achievement given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to local government units and local leaders. It is awarded annually by the DILG to deserving LGUs across the country that were able to meet the much stricter assessment criteria set by the same Department.
In addition to this, the municipality was also able to notch the following awards; 2017 Child-Friendly Local Governance Award from the Council for the Welfare of Children, First Runner-up Outstanding Municipal GAD Focal Point System for 2016, 2017 Gawad Kaagapay Award: A Salute to Partnership awarded by the Department of Education – Division of Quezon and a finalist for the 2nd Sonia R. Lorenzo Award for Women in Leadership and Good Governance.
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, Emerita Madla, partners with the Municipal Mayor and other departments in implementing the said programs within the LGU. Meanwhile, Mrs. Carol Lanceta, one of the members of the Provincial GAD Committee, commended the LGU Pagbilao for continuously improving and supporting GAD-related programs and projects.
The GAD-related programs and projects of the Local Government Unit of Pagbilao in different sectors such as, agriculture, environment, disaster preparedness, infrastructure, health, education, tourism and budgetary requirements are among the areas being assessed by the members of the Provincial GAD Committee. #PagbilaoWINS #SerbisyongClickatQuick
